In my little experience in ministry, I have come across an old spirit that reigns in places of greatness that do not allow people to truly learn and become what they must become. Whenever a man has an inheritance to gain, there will either be rebellion or wisdom in humility.
The verse shows us a man, Absalom, who was a King's son. But one day, he provides himself chariots and horsemen to go ahead of him against his father's will. What he should have inherited, he sought to cease it. Therefore, he thought the throne was obtained by riding on horses like his father.
Have you noticed people who sound intelligent? They can preach or speak like great men, but yet the things around them do not change. They mastered the talk of the great but never mastered the grace of the same. There is nothing as bad as having wisdom that does not produce results.
Build your life in such a way that if you ever walk with great men, you not only learn how they speak, walk, or dress but most importantly their ability to cause the world around them to shift to where they desire it to go.
