WHY WE SERVE GOD

August 23, 2022

John 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep." (KJV)

When Jesus was looking for a man to succeed him, he looked for a man who loved him, not a man he loved. Many people do not often realize that their responsibilities reflect their passions.

The verse shows us that Jesus was looking for a disciple who loved him, so that he can commit his flock to him. It is important before you cast responsibility to a man to observe his passions.

A man's life defines his passion, you can only bear fruit in the area where your love is.

Jesus understood that it takes passion for a man to be responsible. That is why, instead of selecting a disciple he loved, he chose rather the one who loved him. Sometimes you do not need those you love but those who love you.
