2 Corinthians 5:21 "For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (KJV)

The message of the gospel is good news for this one reason; that it imparts certain truths in our hearts by faith, and only by faith are they able to be received.

The verse shows us that the righteousness of God did not have it's origin from the works of man but rather it was given. Therefore, we are simply made righteous because Christ became sin.

The God-kind of righteousness is not attained; it is given.‍

You cannot be a believer and you feel righteous because you do righteousness. It is not an issue of feeling, it's an issue of truth. What is given cannot be worked for.
