Have you met people who multiply everything committed to them? If they are given to chair a committee of a project, that project stands; if they are heading a fellowship, it grows by the number. This is also true to some on the opposite side. There are people who can never multiply what's committed to them.
The verse shows us that the man David went on and grew great. In Chapter 5, the bible speaks about the capture of Jerusalem, a city of the Jebusites. It shows us that not only did David capture the city, but he went on to be very great. Never settle because you have accomplished a small task.
When men are limited in vision, they will blame everything around them but themselves. Some blame themselves and even die in the process because they cannot realise that all of us are given great ability to multiply that which God has committed to us.
I teach young people to develop a reputation of always multiplying everything put in their hands. This is the guarantee that even with stakes, you will still multiply. David multiplied the little animals his father gave him by killing lions and bears that often ate them. Little did he know that the same wisdom would one day be necessary to grow a whole country. Those who wait for great opportunities to multiply will never be served the chance. The spirit of multiplication starts with the little things.
