2 Timothy 2:4 "No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer." (KJV)

One of the secrets of ministry that defines those who serve God with ever exceeding glory, is having the mindset of a soldier. To know that we have a commander (Jesus) to please, it's not about us but about his will.

Therefore, we thus serve even though many opportunities have come when we could have left our post. Some are as small as a sickness, some are open doors but yet because we deem ourselves as soldiers we could not entangle ourselves in civilian affairs.

Discipline is the secret to serving God.

The psalmist put it well saying, "I would have fainted had I not believed to see the goodness of God in the land of the living."

We are soldiers of Christ, we serve God in every situation. When things are working, when things are not working, when he is speaking, and when he is silent. This is the secret of a successful minister of God.
