THE PURPOSE OF WEALTH

January 26, 2023

Luke 12:20-21 "But God said unto him, [Thou] fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So [is] he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." (KJV)

The bible tells us a story of a rich man whose ground brought forth plentiful, and instead of acknowledging the hand of God, he sought to build himself stores and to eat and be merry. This Babylonian mindset that King Nebuchadnezzar once had, God hates.

The verse, therefore, shows us that God said; thou fool your soul is required of thee this day. The man therefore died that day because he thought he was rich but yet he was not rich before God. Material gain is a dangerous trap. God can bless you so that he observes what you do with what you gain. Many after being blessed, they would rather spend it with children of disobedience than bringing their wealth before God.

Wealth is meaningful when it's given before God.

Always honour God with your first fruits, tithes, offering, and thanksgiving. These bring a man's heart into subjection to God's will and his soul is saved before him because he is reckoned as one that relies on God.
