Colossians 2:23 "Such [practices] have indeed the outward appearance [that popularly passes] for wisdom, in promoting self-imposed rigor of devotion and delight in self-humiliation and severity of discipline of the body, but they are of no value in checking the indulgence of the flesh (the lower nature). [Instead, they do not honor God but serve only to indulge the flesh.]" (KJV)

Christianity will always be confusing to a man who continues to approach it with an outward, inward approach. Most Christians who end up walking in the flesh, spend most of their Christian walk working on the outward whilst ignoring the true transformation which is of the spirit.

The verse shows us that caring for the outward, the discipline of the flesh has an appearance of wisdom even though it's only outward. And carries an external humility, but does not really affect anything in the way a man must walk with God.

Christianity is spiritual more than it is physical.

‍

It is impossible to walk godly unless a man desires to be spiritual. This is why anyone who thinks to approach God by the flesh ends up carnal and not in God because God can only be worshiped in truth and in spirit. Teach your spirit to understand God, then your physical life will reflect your maturity.
