Hebrews 4:12 "For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart." (AMP)

The reason a human being should not put trust in anything in this life is that the things of this world do not by nature carry that integrity to stay dependable. One can settle in the area of finances but still struggle with spiritual attacks. Only the word of God perfectly balances life.

The verse speaks about the word of God being alive and full of power. This means that it can be trusted, and it can separate a man from his internal struggles and elevate them in God to be stable. This explains why we see people who have committed themselves to God begin to stand out from the crowd.

The word of God can be trusted because of its power.

When a person has a true encounter with the word, this man begins to realize that maturity can be attained.
