THE EFFECTIVE EVANGELIST

August 23, 2022

John 4:6-7 "Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with [his] journey, sat thus on the well: [and] it was about the sixth hour. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink." (KJV)

There are many Christians who to this day find it very difficult to share the gospel with another person, and this is because of many reasons; but cardinal among them is the fact that believers do not understand that evangelism is a full time job. An effective evangelist does not take a rest from sharing the word.

We see Jesus in the verse taking a rest by the well of Jacob. But immediately he sees a samaritan woman, he initiates a conversation. Later we learn that this woman ran and gathered the entire city of Samaria.  Jesus understood the power in changing a single life.

Effective evangelism is found in sharing the gospel with one person and not necessarily multitudes.

Therefore, if you want to be a good evangelist, understand that you need to share with one person at a time. Do not wait for pulpits and church campaigns. One soul changed can mobilize the entire city. Share the gospel at every given opportunity; there is never a better time than the one you have. Jesus was tired and hungry yet used that opportunity to reach out to a Samaritan woman.
