THE DOCTRINE OF IMITATION - (I)

June 22, 2022

1 Corinthians 4:16 "So I urge you to imitate me." (NLT)

When Christ walked the face of the earth, he taught many things by God, and he said it was expedient he goes so that the Holy Spirit can come; who would remind us of his teachings and also teach us things that he has not said. That meant that there are teachings that Christ did not reveal whilst he was alive. And one as such is the doctrine of imitation.

The verse shows us that Paul encouraged the Corinthians to imitate him. This is a radical approach to the gospel which to this day confuses even the most senior of preachers. How someone can confidently ask men to imitate his ways knowing well we are but only human.

Certain revelations of the spirit can only be taught to men whose understanding has been enlightened.

Even in our present day, we still have Christians who think people should not imitate others neither have a Spiritual father, for only God is the Father. This revelation was first taught by Paul who gave careful attention to what the spirit of God was doing in his time.

The mind of imitation is about the power of God (Moral excellence of the soul) and less to do with human limitations of the flesh. Therefore, like most people in the days of Paul; you will continue to be confused about the understanding of spiritual authority unless you are mature to understand how God works in and for men.
