Matthew 8:21-22 "And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead." (KJV)

One of the most challenging aspects of life, is the issue of understanding priority; knowing what ought to be done first and what ought to be given more weight. There are many people who spend their entire life chasing after the wrong things and giving time to matters that were really not weighty.

The verse shows us a disciple of Jesus who had need to bury his parent but Jesus rebuked him to understand that death ought not to cause a man to abandon a high calling. But rather opened his eyes to the fact that they were working on a kingdom assignment.

True progress and contentment come when you discover what is priority.

How many people everyday spend their time and mind on that which is not important, only to realise the very things they ignored were the very purpose of God for their life? God will never promote you in the wrong direction. Until a man discovers his true purpose, he continues to chase after vanity.

Therefore, give priority to that which God has set as priority in your life. It may not be something that engages your fancy but if it was set by God, it will be the reason you are promoted.
