One of the great wisdoms in fighting any battle is to know what battles to start and what battles to seek peace in. Not every battle you start, you are able to win. Great warriors and wise men know what people to keep as friends and what people to make enemies. But when a man is not wise, he wages war without considering if he has the sufficiency to win the same.
The verse shows us the counsel of a man called Gamaliel; a doctor, a pharisee who was respected when he stood and defended the apostles who were facing trial by fellow pharisees. He revealed that if these men were of God, what they do would stand, and fighting them could be fighting against God himself.
This is why we teach people to honour every man who comes in the name of God. Not because we are not aware that some may be wolves in sheep skin, but because we are educated enough not to find ourselves in opposition to God. Train your heart to know what battles you can start and what battles are better left alone. You will prosper when you learn your true place in God.
Hallelujah. Amen
