SONS ACCORDING TO THE COMMON FAITH

June 2, 2023

Topic: Why Some People Cannot Prosper Under Certain Graces
Titus 1:4-5 "To Titus, [mine] own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, [and] peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour. For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:" (KJV)

In the bible, there are many stories which are examples of great relationships between great men and men they raised. Some were to dishonour, and some were to honour. Abraham and Lot, Elisha and Gehazi, these were to dishonour. Paul and Titus, Elijah and Elisha, Noami and Ruth, these were to honour.

The Scripture gives us the secret of success to such relationships. Paul calls Titus his son after the common faith. This means when Titus came to Paul, he understood the place from whence Paul ministered. It was not about looking for a man who is big in his generation, who performs the greatest miracles or commands crowds, but it was in the way Titus saw his part in the mission of Paul.

Following a man should never be informed by the outward achievements he possesses but rather the faith he communicates.

Today, most believers just wake up and join fellowships or ministers without truly understanding whether it was God who led them in those places. This is why we teach ministers to always discern why people are joining them. If they came because they failed in another ministry, they would definitely fail yours too. But if they join because the Holy spirit has accurately communicated your vision in their hearts, they will prosper under your guidance.
