DAY NINE: PRAYER AND FASTING

Acts 6:2 "Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples [unto them], and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables." (KJV)

Prayer is many sided. That's why the Scriptures encourage us to pray with all sorts of prayers because there are many kinds of prayers; but there is what is known as the ministry of prayer.

The verse shows us that the apostles separated themselves from the daily serving of tables and committed themselves to the ministry of prayer. Every ministry ought to have wise men full of the Spirit who can run the daily serving of the tables while the apostles make prayer a ministry. This is the mother of all progress.

Until prayer becomes a ministry, fellowships do not grow in influence.

This is why ministers must honour the place of prayer as a ministry and not a casual routine. For God requires them at the altar of prayer. Therefore, as you pray today, ask God to bring forth wisemen that will take on the serving of tables that the apostles take on prayer as a ministry.
