MATURITY IN GOD

August 14, 2023

Topic: True Righteousness
Matthew 5:20 "For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." (KJV)

In the bible days, the Pharisees represented a group of people who pray alot; dressed in long religious clothes and were always in the temple but had no character in love. In recent days, believers are degenerating to become the modern-day pharisee.

People can quote a whole tone of verses, pray for long hours at night, and talk big Christian talk but they are lacking basic human character that speaks God. People no longer understand what it means to bear one another's burdens, people no longer know what it means to keep a secret, people no longer know what it means to be dependable.

The verse shows us that except your righteousness surpasses that of Pharisees, you can never enter the kingdom of God. Maturity is not praying for long hours, posting verses on status, or even belonging to a prayer group.

Maturity in God is walking in love before your fellow brother.

When a person matures in God, they begin to realise that serving others is more noble than being offered a high seat. Building others is more important than seeking self-love and personal enjoyment.

Acknowledging what others have contributed to your life is more important than seeking personal gratification.

The body of Christ needs to return to a place of love, a place where one cares about another's needs.

Salvation is found in building those around us.
