MATERIALISM - PART (1)

May 17, 2023

Topic: Materialism - The Love Of Money
Daniel 4:30-31 "The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? While the word [was] in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, [saying], O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee"

One of the greatest snares of life is to be controlled by things which are in the world. Materialism is responsible for many stunted Christians. Many Christians should be mature in God, but they are controlled by the wealth they possess.

Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, was such a one who, after he built a great kingdom, he got puffed up with the greatness of his wealth. The verse shows us that a voice came from heaven, and his authority was taken away from him.

A man's authority does not come from his wealth but from God.

There are many signs of materialism;
A) Developing self-importance because of what you have.
B) Going after ill gained wealth. A place where a man is willing to do anything to be rich.
C) Forgetting God because you have material wealth.
D) Defrauding people(workers) because you want to increase.

A true servant of God does not accumulate material gain so that he can be praised but rather to serve his God and humanity.
