The world seems to have picked up well on the spirit of mentorship. When you observe world leaders, you can tell who mentored them by the way they rule; you can look at a football team and know it’s coach by how they play. You can hear a musician sing and know who inspired him. But certain believers have not yet grasped the art and science of how to learn well from those who teach them.
The scripture shows us Timothy, who was a student of Paul, being cautioned to continue in everything he has been taught and assured of, knowing well who taught him. Many people learn from men whose grace they have not fully examined.
It's one thing to be taught; it is another thing to be assured of things you have been taught.
A good student ought to have victories in areas where their teachers have excelled. Never struggle with a defeated enemy.
