EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

March 16, 2023

Topic: How To Deal With Misunderstanding
John 6:60-61 "Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard [this], said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?" (KJV)

There comes a time in every man's journey when you will find that one person or persons that will be committed to misunderstanding you. No matter how much evidence you present, what humility you carry, or what carefulness you present your issue, there are people who will never understand what you communicate. And it takes great wisdom to know how to handle that place in life.

The scripture shows us that Jesus taught a hard teaching, to which his disciples also noted that no man would receive that. Everyone present walked away, and Jesus was left with his disciples , whom he asked, 'Doth this offend you?' It is very important; firstly to know when you have been misunderstood. Secondly, to never try to explain yourself.

The principle of effective communication is such that the message will always be understood by the person for whom it was intended.

Through knowledge and experience, I have come to learn that if a person is committed to misunderstanding you, there is no amount of words or convincing that you will do that can change their mind. Therefore, always pray that if you carry the communication for a person that they also have the heart for your message. Otherwise, you will cast pearls to swine.
