There is a thin line between Godly wisdom and earthly wisdom. Often times people cannot even tell when they are being influenced by earthly wisdom. You can know in two minutes in a conversation with a person what influences their soul. Most times earthly wisdom might sound justifiable until it starts bearing its fruit.
The verse clearly shows us how to detect earthly wisdom. If a man's knowledge brings him to a place of strife and confusion, that man is learning from the world. God is not an author of confusion. A person's life is the total of the things he listens to. Always observe confused people, you will trace it to the source of their knowledge.
Godly wisdom builds; if something is breaking, it had its origin in earthly wisdom.
This is why we always encourage people to be careful with what source they pick for their learning because every wisdom has a fruit. Those who are learning from God are becoming better each day, in their craft, in their relationships, in their character because that's the fruit of having God as the source. But the man who is perishing inside becomes insecure by day, hopeless and finds the most beautiful things to be useless.
Mind the source of your wisdom.
