Jesus understood that a man’s spiritual life can only look as the amount of time he spends in the presence of God. This is why we see in many places, he secluded himself and prayed alone always to prepare for his ministry. Therefore, when he came out to meet people, he walked in great power. Today, people want to be powerful publicly when they have no private time with God.
The verse tells us to abide in God and he shall also abide in us. The word abide is “Meno”. Which translates ‘stay/persist’. Which means that Jesus is teaching us to persist in the presence of God where by we can draw a functional spiritual life. A visiting Christian does not grow.
Creating time for God begins with our knowledge of him.
Begin with spending a tenth of your day's time in the word and in prayer, and thereby build a consistent habbit of reading the word. That little impartation of the word will by itself build an anointing that will push you into a habitual life of seeking God. Because knowledge to sustain your fire will have been built.
