A RESOLVE OF FAITH

March 15, 2023

Topic: Considering God Faithful
Romans 4:20-21 "He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform." (KJV)

Many times, when we read the scriptures, it is easy to say the men in the scriptures had faith or they were weak. But it's very difficult to see how seriously anointed and unique these men were. When you take time considering how we would fair alongside these patriarchs, you start quickly realising how truly great these men were in God.

The verse shows us that Abraham staggered not at the promise of God because he knew He was faithful to promise. Now, this is the most underrated statement. Let's put it into perspective for us to understand: Abraham got the promise when he was seventy-five years, he saw its fulfilment when he was one hundred years old. This means it took twenty-five years in the waiting. I don't know about you, but this is a very long time in human life.

I know people who have a promise of God upon their life, but within a space of a year, they can literally chase after all sorts of alternatives, should they seem hopeless. I have observed people who can not keep faith even for a month. We are in a generation that quickly forgets, that is not committed, that quickly changes its mind, that quickly turns its back on promises, all in the name of peace of mind.

True faith will make you take God at His word.

If a man will ever be numbered among the pillars of faith, the same must learn to carry his cross daily and believe for things that look dead to the world simply because of the One who promised. Elsewhere, the scripture teaches us not to throw away our confidence, which is precious in the sight of God. This is what sets men of faith apart.
